The view of Mount Kinabalu from our campsite, a flat ground on a hillside overlooking the Tudan valley in Gunung Emas. Gunung Emas is a generic name given to a highland which is part of the Crocker Range, the backbone of Sabah. From here, it takes 2 days trekking to reach the mountain.

Morning Has Broken

Always check your tent before you go on a camping trip. Ours, after so many years, the tropical heat and humidity had finally taken its toll. The only thing usable is the flysheet, which we draped over an A shape frame. It lasted longer because of the multiple silicone coating it has making it waterproof or impermeable to water.
Climate here is slightly windy with temperature dropping to as low as 16C and no mosquitos or other creepy crawlies and fliers. |
