Stormy Bright Afternoon
It was the kind of rain that never came.
In photography, especially in the afternoon just when it is going to rain and the sun is still keeping its ground, the sky can get pretty dramatic with heavy downcast clouds but the landscape is still bright and broodingly sunny. A mundane scene can get a bit more interesting than any other sunny day.
This is a man made lake which doubles as a fishing ground, in a fruit plantation about half an hour drive from Tawau. Balung Eco Resort boasted the highest numbers of local fruits, at least in Sabah. It is pretty much a commercial nursery and plantation for just about any commercial fruits and produces. If you have eaten any local fruit in Sabah, the chances are, the resort has an orchard of it. If not, soon to be.
This photo is a by product of an exposure set to shoot a surface skimming kingfisher. You noticed that the shutterspeed was set at 1/1600 at F5.6. While I had missed the bird, this was its replacement.
