Rainbow's End
Hate to break this to you but...there's no pot of gold at this end of the rainbow, which was arching over Semporna's seafront that brooding Sunday morning. Don't think there's gold either at the other end. Would have love to get much closer and personal with this end of the rainbow, but this is as close as the 300mm lens can go. On the left side of this rainbow's end, is a cluster of stilted houses,or commonly called "floating village" by the local this side of Sabah.
But here's the good news for Malaysian...those that dare to point their fingers at it, didn't get their forefingers or any fingers crooked either. There's an old Malay saying that says "If you point your finger at a rainbow, it gets crooked". Guess this one goes down too where the pot of gold is.
Never packed your camera when you are outside with it. Always keeps it discreet and within reach, and switched on but at power saving mode. There are moments when, you just don't have that much time to "grab" your camera and get it going. In photography, you either wait for something to happen, or go looking for it. If you are neither waiting nor searching, you better be prepared when it unexpectingly does.
Just because where you are or going to, is not a tourist attraction,or the weather or lighting is not good, doesn't mean you wouldn't get anything from it. Or nothing special or exciting would happen. You can never know for sure when something interesting is going to happen. On any given time of the day, it pays to set your camera on Auto or Program. When something special did happen, after the first few shots and the scene is still there or gotten better, you might like to go creative or thoughtful with your composition, exposure and lens setting.
Always check your camera setting too, the first thing before you step out of your hotel or home. You just never know, what's Mother Nature has in store for you.
